Galaxy Properties at redshift 0 to 1.2 from a Deep Medium Band Subaru Imaging of the MUSYC Extended Chandra Deep Field South
Abstract
We study galaxy masses and colors at 0 < z < 1.2 using new deep imaging with the Subaru Telescope of the MUSYC Extended Chandra Deep Field South. We detect 80,000 galaxies with photometric redshifts out to z=5.0 in our catalog with RAB > 27. We obtain photometric redshifts with the accuracy to better than 2% (Δ z / (1+ z) \sim 0.01, z < 1.2) using EAZY, a fast public photometric redshift code. Using deep X-ray observations from Chandra we detect 1000 AGN and derive their host galaxy masses and star formation histories. We compare the AGN host galaxies to the general galaxy population.
